CGA-BC, the largest and fastest growing accounting body in the province, is responsible for training, certifying, and upholding the professional standards of its students and members.

CGAs advise businesses throughout B.C. and around the world in industry, commerce, finance, government, public practice and other areas where accounting and financial management is required. Their clients range from major corporations and industries to entrepreneurs.

CGAs' expertise is based on:

• Full-time, on-the-job experience that starts as a CGA student
• Rigorous professional training that emphasizes real-world business cases
• A minimum academic requirement of a bachelor’s degree upon certification
• The highest standards of ethical conduct
• An ongoing professional development requirement

CGAs work all across Canada, as well as in Bermuda, the Caribbean, China, and Hong Kong. In addition, CGAs have expanded their opportunities through an agreement with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the world's largest accounting body. Members of one body can become members of the other. For CGAs this means extending the portability of their skills to 170 countries.

In total, there are more than 68,000 CGAs and students worldwide.
